Overview of Services

Kara- UITSCUniversity IT Support Center (UITSC) provides assistance and problem resolution for all services delivered and supported by UIT.

In addition, the UIT Support Center provides a range of IT services for the Tufts community including:

Desktop Support Services & Call Center

The UIT Support Center provides end user support for over 500 end users including the President, Provost, Vice Provost, General Counsel, University Relations, UIT, and the Trustees in addition to other departments like the University Chaplain, and Internal Audit. The call center handles over 5,000 calls annually and resolves more than 5,000 desktop issues in a fiscal year.

Desktop Security

UIT Support Center has detected and cleaned more than 6 million viruses across the Tufts domain during this fiscal year. In addition, they've deployed more than 70,000 system updates and critical security patches for Windows machines.

Application Support

The UIT Support Center provides support for applications provided by other groups in UIT and maintains Remedy, LANDesk, OfficeScan, Infoboard. They also provide customized software for email, calendaring, and Tufts Virtual Private Networking.

Software Distribution

The UIT Support Center coordinates the distribution of over 500 software titles to the University through CD/DVD duplication services, software downloads on the web, and bulk software purchases.

Account Management

The UIT Support Center provides accounts for the Research Cluster, personal web accounts, Elist mass mailing services with over 1600 active lists, aliases and alias table maintenance, SeqWeb, and others.

Infoscreen Support

UIT Support Center supports the functionality of the 13 infoscreens deployed over three campuses. The screens provide information regarding university news and events at all members of the Tufts community.

Quality Assurance Testing

The UIT Support Center provides testing resources, test matrices, and analyses of testing results for enterprise services and local desktop applications.

Note: Computer Room Operators cannot answer desktop support questions. Some schools and departments provide after-hours support. Contact your school Information Technology organization or FSP for more information.
