Problems With an Existing Jack

If you think you are having problems with an existing data network jack, please try the following basic trouble shooting before reporting the issue to the UIT Support Center:

  • The cable can become dislodged during cleaning or moving. If this happened, it may have been plugged back in to the wrong outlet. Make sure the drop cable is plugged into the activated outlet on the jack and is seated tightly.

  • Check the cable connection to the network adapter on your computer.

  • If there is a working computer in the same area, try plugging it into the jack outlet that isn't working. If the computer can connect to the network, the data jack is good. Contact your FSP for additional support.

After this basic troubleshooting, please report any problems to the University IT Support Center at 7-3376 or via email at uitsc@tufts.edu.
