Oracle is a production-grade relational database management system that can be used for administrative, research and academic applications at Tufts University. In November, 2000, Tufts entered into a volume licensing arrangement for the following Oracle database products:
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition
Oracle Database Personal Edition
Oracle Database Lite
Diagnostics Management Pack
Tuning Management Pack

Pricing and Availability
Tufts faculty and staff wishing to use these specific Oracle software products are responsible for purchasing any needed media. Each copy of the media costs $45.00 and may be ordered with an Interdepartmental Requisition (IDR). No additional licensing fees are required.
To obtain software media, contact Order-Oracle@tufts.edu. You will need to specify the product to be ordered, the platform(s) on which the product is to execute and 'ship-to' information. Be sure to include information on who you are and how you can be reached as well.
Hard-copy documentation is not included under the terms of the volume license agreement. Documentation is available directly from Oracle or a variety of third party publishers. In addition, there are several UseNet Newsgroups (e.g., the comp.databases.oracle hierarchy), which cover a range of topics of potential interest to Oracle users.
Conditions of Use and License
Software acquired under the terms of this agreement may be loaded only on machines that are owned or controlled by Tufts University. Students are prohibited from loading the software onto their own machines.
Use of the software is restricted to Tufts University faculty, staff and students engaged in activities related to the University's administrative, research, community service or academic mission. Faculty, staff and students who separate from the University must cease using the software. Unauthorized duplication, distribution or use of this Oracle software is in violation of applicable laws.

While centralized support is not available for these Oracle software products, Schools and Divisions may, at their discretion, offer support.
Acquisition of technical manuals and documentation is the responsibility of the user.
