Microsoft Select Agreement Institutional Purchases

All Microsoft software products which are NOT covered under the University's MS Campus Agreement, can be purchased for installation and use on institutional machines at a discount under the University's Microsoft Select 6 Agreement. Products which can be acquired through the Select Agreement include MS Project, Windows 2000 Server, Windows 2003 Server, and Visio.

License Term

The term of the software license is perpetual for the version of the product which has been purchased.

License Code

License keys are provided with the product. Media should be ordered with the software license. Frontline Support Providers can assist with obtaining volume license keys, which are issued to Tufts as an institution.

Platform(s)

Supported platforms vary depending on product being purchased.

Maintenance, Fixes

Software Assurance can be purchased separately at the time the license is purchased.

Versions, Upgrades and New Releases

License holders are only permitted to run the version of the software which was purchased. However, Software Assurance, which provides for upgrades, can be purchased at the time of license purchase.

Type of Purchase

To take advantage of the discounted pricing, purchases MUST be made with the specific software reseller named in the Select Agreement. This reseller is Software House International, Inc. ("SHI"). See below for contact information.

Authorized Use (Subject to change at any time.)

1. The software may be purchased by University faculty or staff for installation and use on computers owned or controlled by Tufts University. This includes computer lab machines.

2. Under the terms of the Select Agreement, Work-At-Home rights are only available for MS Office and Terminal Services of a Windows® 2000 Server, Terminal Server Edition during the term of the Select agreement. Use of the software is limited to work-related purposes only, from either a laptop or desktop computer that the faculty or staff member owns or leases. Use of any such secondary copy shall be subject to the terms and conditions of the Select Agreement under which the original copy was licensed.

Obtaining a License and Media

To obtain quotes and order licenses, contact Barbara West, Tufts' Sales Representative at SHI, at Barbara_west@shi.com. Media is not included with the license and must be purchased separately.

Technical manuals are not included and must be purchased separately.
