Microsoft Select Agreement Institutional Purchases

All Microsoft software products which are NOT covered under the University's MS Campus Agreement can be purchased for installation and use on institutional machines at a discount under the University's Microsoft Select 6 Agreement. Products which can be acquired through the Select Agreement include Client Access Licenses, MS Project, server licenses such as Windows 2003, Windows 2008, SQL Server and MS Visio.

License Term

The term of the software license is perpetual for the version of the product which has been purchased.

Obtaining Software and License Keys

License keys and software media can be obtained by contacting your Frontline Support Provider (FSP).  FSP s can obtain both volume license keys and software media through the UIT Support Center.

Platform(s)

Supported platforms vary depending on product being purchased.

Upgrades

Up to two years of Software Assurance can be purchased separately at the time the license is purchased. Software Assurance entitles the license holder to free upgrades, but must be renewed periodically.

Versions, Upgrades and New Releases

License holders are only permitted to run the version of the software which was purchased or earlier versions of the same software, when available.  A license which is under active Software Assurance may be upgraded to a newer version than the one purchased for no additional fee.  Otherwise, a new license must be purchased.

Type of Purchase

To take advantage of the discounted pricing, purchases MUST be made with the specific software reseller named in the Select Agreement. This reseller is Software House International, Inc. (SHI). See below for contact information.

Authorized Use (Subject to change at any time.)

Select Agreement software and other licenses (e.g., CALs) may only be purchased by University faculty or staff for installation and use on computers owned or controlled by Tufts University. This includes computer lab machines.

To obtain quotes and order licenses, contact Barbara West, Tufts' Sales Representative at SHI, at Barbara_west@shi.com.   Media does not come with a license purchase.  If required, media can often be obtained from your FSP or, if necessary, purchased through SHI.

Technical manuals are not included and must be purchased separately.
