SPSS is an industry-standard statistical processing package that is widely used at Tufts University. The package offers extensive statistical graphics and data mining capabilities. Tufts has entered into a volume licensing agreement with SPSS that covers the three most widely used modules of the SPSS software family.
- Base – This component contains tools that support data aggregation, analysis, graphics and reporting needs.
- Advanced - This component contains modules that perform various multivariate techniques.
- Regression - This module supports ANOVAs and several generalized regression methods.

Pricing and Availability
Under a volume licensing arrangement with SPSS, Inc., Tufts University has purchased 500 perpetual licenses for the Base, Advanced and Regression components of SPSS. These licenses may be purchased at advantageous rates from coordinators located on the three Tufts’ campuses. The number of available licenses varies from school to school. Coordinators, who are responsible for tracking software distribution, will have current media and license codes. Conditions of Use and License
SPSS licenses may be purchased by Tufts University faculty and staff and by graduate and post-doctoral students who are employed by the University. The software may only be used on computers that are engaged in work that supports the mission of the University. Home use of the software by Tufts’ faculty and employees engaged in University work is permitted. Unauthorized duplication, distribution or use of SPSS software or license codes violates applicable laws.

Support for product installation varies from school to school.
All SPSS manuals are available online with the software. For specific assistance with SPSS statistical applications, contact Academic Technologies at tlr@tufts.edu.
SPSS coordinators can assist you with obtaining licenses, media and periodic updates for the SPSS software. They are the only individuals at Tufts University who are authorized to contact SPSS for technical support.
