Register for the UIT Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning with Technology
The Summer Institute for Teaching and Learning with Technology focuses on technologies that support learning in the classroom. The Institute is an engaging week of seminars, discussions and hands-on technology workshops designed to assist faculty from across the university to think about the learning objectives of their students and how technology might be used to support attainment of their educational goals.
Applications are now being accepted through March 15 for the 2007 Summer Institute which will be held on the Medford campus Tuesday, May 22 - Friday, May 25. This year the Institute will focus on developing strategies for assessment and educational scholarship as supported and enhanced through technology. Over four days, participants will explore such topics as: educational scholarship and methods for evaluating evidence of educational scholarship; different formats of assessment, as well as assessments that engage different cognitive abilities; and the impact of digital media on student learning and faculty scholarship. Featured presenters include: Janet Hafler, Dean for Educational Development, Tufts University School of Medicine on educational scholarship; and Linda Jarvin, Deputy Director, Tufts Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT) on assessing learners.
In afternoon workshops, participants will learn about technologies available at Tufts that can be used for assessing learning and scaffolding a faculty member’s preparation and presentation of educational scholarship. Throughout the Summer Institute, faculty members will have the opportunity to share and model pedagogically effective uses of technology with their colleagues and to learn from faculty peers who have already successfully integrated technology into their teaching, assessment, and scholarship.
Attending faculty will receive staff assistance with instructional design decisions, implementation of assessment methods, technology and resource choices, and course material transformation. They will also have the opportunity to share final results and lessons learned with the Tufts community.
