Changing Your Tufts Password

Tufts Complex Password Standards require that you change your Tufts Password every 180 days. Starting 14 days before your current password expiration, you'll receive daily email notification that will give you the option to change your current password.

Smart computing practices suggest that you don't procrastinate and take advantage of the opportunity to change your password before the final day.

Your Tufts Password provides access to many IT services , such as network drives (e.g. P:, Q:, and R:), email, Tufts VPN, Spark tools, Library services, Trunk, and more. Changing your Tufts Password will update the password in all of these applications. If you have a smart-phone or other email-enabled device, such as an iPad, update your password in the Account Settings of the device as soon as possible.

Changing Your Tufts Password

NOTE: Passwords that do not comply with the Tufts Complex Password requirements will be rejected during the Tufts password change process. You may wish to review the complex password requirements before you begin.

1. Ensure that you have an active Internet connection and browse to http://tuftstools.tufts.edu.
   
   
2. The Tufts complex password requirements are listed to the right of the form to help you create passwords that comply with Tufts' password standards. You should review them before you proceed.
   
   
3. When you've read the requirements, add your Tufts Username (your UTLN) after tufts in the Account field. Do not delete tufts or your password reset will fail.
   
   Type your old, or current, password in the Old password field.
   
   Type your new password twice; the first time to set the new password, the second time to confirm it.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Click Submit.

After your successful password change, you should log out and log in again to avoid being locked out of your domain account.
