Intricately intertwined, the three groups that are part of Systems and Operations build, maintain, monitor, backup, and support the servers that drive the high level of teaching, learning, and research that is endemic to Tufts. They also care and provide for critical systems, such as email and network authentication.
- University Systems Group (USG)
USG works closely with other Tufts IT groups to enhance and improve IT services, providing hardware builds, updates, and supports the following services:
- Tufts White Pages
- Enterprise Directory (LDAP)
- Trumpeter Email and mailing lists
- Shibboleth single sign-on project
- Research Computing Cluster
- Linux-based platforms for applications
In addition, USG is available for consultation on Unix-based IT projects and initiatives across all three campuses, providing systems and application monitoring when requested. They also offer input and operational support to the Tufts Datacenter, install and support web software for Web Communications, and participate in research-related initiatives, such as the Visualization Wall installation. For questions or more information about a particular USG service, send an email to usg@tufts.edu.
