About Us - Communications and Organizational Effectiveness

Communication
Communications and Organizational Effectiveness is responsible for connecting the dots between UIT’s many resources and the greater Tufts community, both internally and externally. To accomplish this, COE provides outreach, IT education, and venues that encourage dialogue and feedback from faculty, students and staff. They communicate details about UIT’s new and existing IT products and services, overseeing communications plans for all projects, including the development and distribution of print and online materials. To ensure consistency with university practices, COE works closely with senior management to proactively address Tufts increasing and evolving IT services and support needs.

In addition to these activities, Communications and Organizational Effectiveness is responsible for maintaining several web sites, including the UIT Update, the Tufts Learning Center, and this site.

Process and Control
Working with UIT service area managers and directors, COE facilitates organizational collaboration, effective use of resources, and user-centered mechanisms for evaluating UIT’s services by coordinating the review, procedural analysis, change control, standardization of processes, and the services delivered by UIT. Additionally, Process and Control conducts research and cost-benefit analysis, recommending methods and technologies to support operational reporting.

Training and Documentation
COE’s Training and Documentation team serves the Tufts community by providing customized IT training, tip sheets, and user manuals to all three campuses. Among others, covered applications include Trumpeter Email, Webmail, WebVPN, and Tufts’ supported electronic calendars. They also offer informative brown-bag lunch sessions and classes created specifically for the Tufts IT community, including Windows and Mac operating systems and IT certification prep courses for Tufts’ Frontline Support Providers (FSPs). For a detailed listing of upcoming course topics, times, and locations go to http://training.uit.tufts.edu/ and select Calendar.
