UIT offers a selection of tools that collectively cover a wide range of use cases from simple desktop videoconferencing to remote delivery of lectures. Because no single tool does it all and technologies continue to evolve, UIT is happy to assist Tufts community members in getting started and in navigating the many options.
Desktop Videoconferencing allows individuals at multiple locations to interact or share applications via simultaneous video and audio transmissions. To use this option, participants install the Cisco TelePresence Movi application.
Room-based Videoconferencing uses equipment installed in conference rooms and is available on all three campuses for meetings, distance learning, and education projects. Requests for use are processed via an online form.
Web Videoconferencing creates an online environment that allows attendees to conduct discussions, share presentations and collaborate with other geographically dispersed participants. Conference attendees can interact with each other and share information the way they would in a face-to-face setting.
Audio Conferencing includes two options:
- Instructions for using your Tufts phone as a vehicle for discussions with 3 to 6 participants.
- Conference Bridge for 6 to 150 participants.
