Sharing Media and Applications - Part 1

Once a meeting is created and others are invited and attending, there are various ways to share content. One of the easiest and most straightforward methods is to share your computer screen. When you share your desktop (computer screen), it is as if the meeting participants are looking over your shoulder at your screen. You can run PowerPoint presentations, click through or demonstrate a process in a software program, navigate to web pages, display documents, and more.

To share your computer screen:
  1. Navigate to the Tufts Adobe Connect Dashboard and log in with your Tufts Username (UTLN) and Tufts Password (email password).

  2. Make sure that the Home section, My Meetings tab is displaying (the default view).

  3. On the left side of the screen, next to the meeting name in the My Meetings panel, click Open. The Connect Pro meeting window will open.

Sharing Applications

As an alternative to sharing your desktop, hosts can choose to only share specific applications. Specific applications would include any program or window that can be open on your computer, such as PowerPoint, Excel, or a web browser. One of the benefits of sharing just the application window is that pop-ups and other everyday interruptions to your desktop environment will not get in the way of what is being presented during your meeting.

To share a specific application window:
  1. Make sure that the application that you wish to share, such as PowerPoint or Excel, is open and minimized.

Sharing Documents with the File Share Pod

At the close of a presentation, participants may want a copy of your presentation or some other supporting documentation that you mentioned during the meeting. The File Share pod gives meeting participants the ability to download a copy of any file you have uploaded.

To upload files to the File Share pod:

  1. From the Menu bar, select Pods > File Share > File Share. The File Share pod will display.

If the pod opens on top of another pod, you can drag it by its green title bar.

  2. At the base of the File Share pod, click Upload File > Select from My Computer. The Select file to upload window will open.

It may take a moment for the Upload File button to appear.
