Information Technology Council (ITC)

The university-wide Information Technology Council (ITC) is a coordinating and decision-making body whose primary role is to define the mission and vision of information technology (IT) at Tufts and to set its strategic direction. The ITC advocates for IT programs and funding within the university and the schools.

Composed of faculty and administrators from across the university, the ITC enables the schools, Central Administration, University Information Technology (UIT) and the senior levels of the university to communicate about IT. The council determines which IT services should be provided by UIT to all schools and Central Administration, and which services the schools and Central Administration should provide themselves. The goal is to achieve a balance between university-wide coordination, standards and efficiency on one hand, and individual initiative and local control in the schools on the other.
