What I do:
I am the project manager overseeing the migration from the existing Tufts learning management system, Blackboard, to the next generation teaching, learning, collaboration & assessment service, trunk, which is based on the open source product called Sakai. In this capacity, I work across several UIT directorates to form agile project “working groups” ensuring that each has what it needs to deliver its portion of the project while at the same time maintaining a holistic sense of the entirety of the project plan.
Education & Background:
For more than 25 years, I’ve provided market research, technology audits, build/buy analysis, new product development, project management, and business development services to financial information vendors, investment management companies, brokerage houses, health care, and non-profit institutions.
I grew up in NYC and first discovered computers while studying chemistry as an undergraduate at NYU; thus began a lifelong interest in learning how to harness computer technology to solve practical problems. I was awarded a research assistantship in the graduate program at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, where he studied programming languages and earned a Masters of Science.
In addition to my role at Tufts, I also hold an appointment as a Graduate Lecturer in Project Management at Northeastern University’s College of Professional Studies.
Professional Interests:
I developed an interest in diverse learning environments over the last five years while teaching “blended” (i.e. online/on ground) courses at Northeastern. I intend to pursue a doctoral research program that will be focused on how learning is affected when a student is studying in a non-native culture and/or language and how diverse learning can be enhanced and outcomes measured by the next generation of teaching, learning, collaboration, and assessment platforms.
